Immersive Display Solutions projection systems are single projector, single- or multi-user hemispherical display systems built around
OmniFocus™ technology.
A single projection source, when mounted with an OmniFocus infinite depth of field lens, completely fills the hemispherical display with imagery,
providing a full 180° horizontal field of view (FOV). Available for full hemispherical dome (180° x 180°) or truncated hemispherical domes
(180° x 135°), the lens is a “fisheye” design with very unique properties. These properties enable distortion-free wide FOV imaging for both
real-time and computer animated linear content. The resultant immersive effect is quite remarkable.
Key features of the projection system include:
180° FOV: Because of its wide FOV, our products present a larger portion of a visual environment than conventional flat-screen displays. By
mimicking the natural human visual perception system, this puts the viewer directly in the action, providing a truly compelling first-person
experience.
Infinite Focus Projection: The unique infinite focus feature of the lens casts a uniform projection over the entire hemispherical viewing surface.
Once in focus, always in focus.
Single Lens & Projector: The single lens and projector simplifies the entire system, making it much more portable
than other immersive systems. Also, the projector never needs to be converged, decreasing system setup time and maintenance requirements. Systems that rely on
multiple projectors require alignment procedures, re-calibration, costly (h/w or s/w) edge-blending tools, and multiple graphics channels to drive them. These
systems also have to deal with color mismatch and image discontinuity issues. With an IDSI system, only one PC graphics card is required to drive the display.
Image alignment is achieved visually in a matter of minutes and the infinite depth of field lens design means that precise projector placement is not critical. And
because there is only one projector, colors temperatures and image brightness are guaranteed to be uniform.
Single Source Image Generator: Since the single projector takes input from a single computer or playback device, the computer-enhanced edge
blending technology of multiprojector systems is not required.
Scalable Content: Content created for a single-user ImmersaStation can also be viewed on larger ImmersaDome systems, thus providing a way for
developers to create content from their desktop for display on larger format systems.
